Story for Kids : faithful Gatekeeper

Once Shivaji Maharaj returning to Rajgad. He was far away from it when it started getting dark. So he decided to camp fro the night in the fort on the way. A few of his trusted followers were accompanying him. All of them reached the small fort on the way. But they found that
the main gate of the fort was closed.

There Shivaji Maharaj knocked on the door.

" Open Up." he ordered.

The guard not knowing the persons standing outside the gate so well. So he refused to open the gate saying loudly, " The gate must remain closed from sunset to sunrise. The king has ordered so."

For Maharj there was no other way except spending the whole night in the open outside the fort. The next morning exactly at sunrise the guard opened the gate and allowed the outsider in after careful interrogation. When he realized that the person asking to open the door was his king.

Naturally the gatekeeper frightened a lot. He thought that he had made a great mistake and he was ruined.

But Maharaj just went to him, patted him and gave him his own pearl necklace as reward, " Our Sawraj stands on the feet on peoples like you."

Lesson : Being faithful is           always good.
