Indian Fort : Raigaid : Our proud

My Son and his group attending the last year of engineering. As their semester exam over they decided to go on the trip. The trip was not managed and authorized by their college. As me many of parents are worried about their trip. Because there is nobody with them who keep control over them. Naturally
many of the parents take objection on this trip.

So all friend jointly decided to take one or two parents with them. I was one of them. Every thing was managed by this young group. But their is no gap anywhere from travel to food.

We all together are 52 members. So we hired a special bus. Enjoyed songs and cards on the way. Taken tea and snacks once in the way.  We visited many places in three days. But I remember Raigad. The capital of kingdom of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.

We reached to bottom of Rigad before the sun rises to head. As we down the bus we start climbing. In the first phase we climbed a number of high steps built of black stone. As these steps ends we take a rest of few minutes. Than we again start climbing. it was a steep slop and very hard to climb. we just can't imaging in those days how peoples moved daily over this way. Finally we reach to the top and taken deep breath and looks over around and forgot the fatigue.

Refreshed and cheered we set out and reached the ' Tourist Guest House.'

After dinner we began our nightly prowl. We saw the pace of Shivaji's Drbar Hall in the moon light. Through dilapidated the royal buildings helped us imagine the grandeur of the time.

We take one guide with us. He takes to all important historical places and gives information about that. Hirkani Buruj one of them. As we reached the Hirkani Buruj and heard the name Hirkani and i remember the story i learn in my school days. What the magic of this place the at that moment i was near Hirkani Buruj on Raigad and i was dreaming my school days.

Than we saw the dreadful 'Takmak Tok'. It was the narrow place with steep rockas below on the all side of it. The place was used to carryout the punishmentby pushing down the criminals who were sentenced to death.

Next day we visited magnificent market place of that time, the 'Jagadishwar Temple' and saw the samadhi of shiwajimaharaj. and his faithful dog. We paid our homage to the founder of the Hindawi Swarajya and the noble king.

On returning are thinking that Shivaji maharaj gives Swarajya asa well as surajya. But Now a days where we are ?
